Jewelry pieces are an integral part of a woman’s wardrobe and jazz up any outfit. Hopefully each of us has one or more classic jewelry pieces in our wardrobe, but what are the new trends and how do you make them work for you?

1. Big Mixed Cabochon-Style Stones—A great statement necklace is exactly that – a statement – what is really catching on is use of stones, à la Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta. Organic and elegant.

2. Tassels & Fringe—Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior all seemed to have an Art Deco-meets-’70s moment with the re-imagining of huge, gorgeous tassel earrings and fringe necklaces.

3. Clean & Architectural—to take us away from all the mixed piled-on pearls, chains, and stones designers are opting for super spare, clean, and almost architectural pieces.

4. Plastics & Perspex—The trend toward really childlike, whimsical jewelry always has a place in ones wardrobe. So, its exciting when designers like Karen Walker and Marni turn out fun plastic-fantastic necklaces and wide perspex-like colored cuff bracelets.

5. Rose-Gold—In fashion, it’s always a guessing game each season as to who in the metals will prevail: silver or gold? Well, for spring, the more exotic rose-gold is stealing center-stage, with a striking necklace by Eddie Borgo and a surprisingly sophisticated Michael Kors watch taking top honors on our spring/summer wish-list.

6. Speaking of watches, the cuff trend isn’t going anywhere so try a watch in that shape!

7. Bangles….Made of plastic, metal or fabrics, vividly colored or in neutral shades, bangles can be an extremely versatile and fashionable accessory if used in the right combination. While most bangles can successfully be part of most casual outfits, selecting the right type of theme is the element that truly creates a well put together outfit.

A perfect illustration of this idea can be seen at Moschino as they flout navy influence in a classy way

try to pick a variety of themes and colors that are closely related with little distinguishable variations, to liven up any outfit.
