ARE YOU READY TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP? THINGS TO PONDER!

5 Oct

Every now and again amongst all the rubbish and filth and useless preening on Face-book you come across a gem! Some-one posted this on a page I subscribe to: I have read it before but thought it a good one to share!

There are a lot of people who are insecure about themselves; unsure of their identity. These sort of people, interact with the opposite sex out ofloneliness.
They flirt, start relationships, and even sleep with others because of loneliness.
Loneliness should not be the reason you enter a relationship. If it is, you either become too dependent on your partner or cannot fully reciprocate their feelingsgenuinely.

A RELATIONSHIP is a partnership, to help and support each other in love; It is not supposed to be a temporary band-aid. Many who view it as the latter, end up hurting someone or being hurt. Before you get in a relationship, you must be comfortable being alone.
To get to the place where you don’t need the opposite sex to make you feel good about yourself; you will be your own validation. You won’t let a few superficial actions make you let your guard down so easily, or give yourself sexually just for more validation.                                               You won’t need the validation from others, but you will enjoy it. It won’t be a need. Self-image should not be influenced by others. Our identity should be set in our minds.                            Your identity is not defined by the opposite sex. It is defined by you.                                        While you are alone it is a great opportunity to get closer to God, and being a child of God is another part of your identity.                                                                                                          By being closer to God you will have new standards for yourself, that will help filter through potential partners instead of falling for those who will just waste your time and attempt to use you. By being able to depend on yourself more, you actually bring more to the table in a relationship. Knowing self allows us to know our short- comings and we can make a conscious decision to  either improve or be complacent. To bring 100% in a relationship or not to be in a relationship. Being with someone should not be a need. Especially if you are not able to be with yourself. Get to know yourself before trying to get to know someone else.

BUSY = DELEGATION 101

17 Sep

I have really got to improve my game in the blog updates area- I cannot believe it’s been over a month, and this after I vowed never to become one of those bloggers that starts off really well then drops off to one blog post every 3 months!

Where to begin!

So much has happened and is still happening – most recently I was on the panel at gUganda – the annual Google event

Image

and privileged to be part of another event on the 20th

Image

Work has been ever so productive and busy and I am learning that the busier I get the better I have to become at delegating – because what people don’t tell you about delegation is that there is a method to it! No sense in requesting someone to do something who doesn’t have the skills or the tools, right? You would think that would be common sense – but NO, when you go through it, is when you learn – It’s easy for us to tell people to delegate but a lot harder to understand what really needs to go on for us to delegate efficiently!

This morning I wished to share with you a few tips on HOW to delegate

1- Ensure that the person has the technical skills to do the Job you wish them to do- i.e can they use the software lets say Tally if it’s an accountant and do they have a natural affinity for numbers? You will get better results if the person’s likes are aligned with what the Job demands.

2 – Be SPECIFIC about the goals you need them to achieve, in what amount of time and HOW you will measure their performance and WHEN.

3- Ensure when you are briefing them they have PEN and PAPER and can repeat what you have asked them to do clearly. Too often the people you supervise are afraid of YOU or looking dumb, so will just nod and go along with what you say even if they do not fully comprehend what you are requesting of them.

4- Finally – assess their performance regularly and give them feed back! It can be tempting to delegate and say go forth – thou art loosed on the world!

In summary if Delegation seems like work! Yes it is but that’s in the initial period – If you do a good job with the foundation you will soon need to do less and less assessment and checking up!

Good luck

MOMBASA RAHA!!

16 Jul

I’m forcing myself to leave my blogging funk because its been over a month and that is NOT funny! 😦

Did an impromptu shoot only for the pictures to disappear when some thug stole the bag in which the memory card with the pictures was contained!!! aaarggggh!

Work has been merciless.. but it’s all good- there is a lot going on with SUQA and our latest foray into making our own natural hair product (I am SUPER excited about this!) Blu flamingo has just made about 3 new partnerships keeping us busy as bees and we have events all over the continent to attend to with my other company- and a few innovations cooking 🙂

It got so busy that I had to give up my PD job at the radio station – because I just could not handle it but believe it or not – it’s gotten even busier – jeez. However all will be well I am sure, as a friend once said to me if it’s not ok then its not the end- because in the end everything will be ok!

To de-stress from all the work and running around the family and I traveled to Mombasa to unwind …..

Here’s my sister wind surfing…

And here’s her fiance defying gravity:)

then she retaliates- (this could go on for a while!)

I THINK IVE FOUND MY NEW MUSE!!!

17 May

Firstly I am ashamed that I have not blogged once in the month of April and that we are in Mid May!! OMG

But the last month has been full of blessings – Work has doubled, amazing opportunities to partner have shown up and so have more Clients at ‘Blu Flamingo’ the digital advertising agency I co-own. As a result it takes time to put things in place and increase on capacity – (read human resource) but I am happy to report Progress!

Anyway – I’m trying out a challenge where i take a photo every single day of what I’m wearing no matter if my hair os natty that day or if i got dressed in a hurry! phew tough project so wish me luck! itll be a miracle to just start!

But today my inspiration is Jada Pinkett- did not realise she was such a kick ass fashionista!

Image

Loving those shorts and that jacket is tres chic- the shoes are surprising and she nailed it!

Image

you can barely make her out in this- but i love the yellow pants and bright color combo!!

In other news- WTF??

Aishwarya Rai Has put on weight and they are suggesting in Bollywood that this is treason!!!????

Commentators have been unkind, lambasting the star for letting her fans down.

Many have gone a step further, suggesting the star has a ‘duty’ to her fans to regain her pre-pregnancy figure.

One website posted a video of the star looking less than her usual svelte self, flicking between photographs of her pre-birth, and photos now.

It has opened up a debate in the country, and beyond, about the attitudes held towards women in the public eye.

I think they should give her a flippin break – but she has put on a shocking amount of weight 😦
